Wismar

Friday 5th May 2023

We arrived here early yesterday afternoon and had a long walk around the old town, we enjoyed the visit and didn’t see all there was to see so we decided to stay another night.

They like their tall churches.
Lots of interesting architecture.

Wismar is a city in Northern Germany on the Bay of Wismar part of the Baltic Sea. It has well preserved medieval buildings similar to Lubeck. It was the third largest port city in the former East Germany. Having yesterday walked around the old town today we spent the morning in the port area.

Harbour for pleasure craft.
Built in 1868 it felt a little art deco to me
Gate house entrance.
Former harbour building, very impressive.
Sailing boat restored and being used for harbour cruises, it said no dogs, no high heels, I tried but Layla wouldn’t take hers off.
The “Albatross”.
Not sure they got the guttering and downpipe concept yet.
What a lovely old memory, Persil washes whiter.
